This webcast is hosted by the Institute for Disaster Mental Health at SUNY New Paltz, with support from the NYS Department of Health. Each year, the Institute for Disaster Mental Health and the New York State Department of Health partner to bring you this web-based training focusing on various aspects of disaster response and recovery. This year marks the 12th year that this webcast has been offered through this partnership, with over 225 participants attending this year's event. For this webcast, we will be examining some of the more administrative components of healthcare resilience planning and emergency response. Although maybe not the flashy part of hospital emergency planning, thinking through logistical challenges and how to best support staff while maintaining continuity of operations can be invaluable once a major event begins to unfold. This includes taking time during blue-sky days to plan for the potential needs and obstacles that may be faced and to practice the skills and techniques that you anticipate will be needed to overcome these response challenges. With the goal of planning for these events before they occur, we will learn from an industry expert about what hazards we should be planning for, how hospital systems may be impacted by these hazards, and what we can do now to better plan for these events accordingly.
