Here we share an excerpt from a Living Proof event - 'Stories of Hope Online' – where we tell real-life recovery stories from chronic neuroplastic symptoms. In this session, Katie shares her inspiring story of recovery from debilitating chronic back pain, which was diagnosed as degenerative disc disease. Prior to this Katie was a fit and active military woman and young mother – and being told that her back would now always be fragile and need protection was a devastating blow. In time, Katie learnt about the neuroplastic (or 'mind-body') approach to understanding and treating chronic pain and symptoms – and embarked on a healing journey that would ultimately lead to her reclaiming her life. Katie is now a chronic pain recovery coach, who supports others on their own healing journeys.
