Saturn Planetary Imaging Workflow (FireCapture, AutoStakkert!4, waveSharp, WinJUPOS)
1. FireCapture (Capture)
ROI: 640×480
ADC Tuning: Adjust levers symmetrically until red and blue traces align with green.
Exposure & Gain: 6 ms exposure, Auto Histogram at 65% (Gain follows automatically). Gamma set to 50 (off/neutral).
Setup: Enable AutoAlign in feature panel, then run Autorun.
2. AutoStakkert!4 (Stacking)
Stabilization & Analysis: Select Planet (COG) and click Analyse.
Alignment Points (APs): Place ~50 APs over Saturn and its rings (size range: 48–104 px).
Stack Settings: Stack top 25% of frames | 1.5x Drizzle | Normalize Stack to 70% | Close to Edge: ON.
Toggles: Sharpened: OFF (sharpen in waveSharp) | RGB Align: ON.
3. waveSharp (Wavelet Sharpening & Color)
Mode: OKLab color with Gauss (LRGB).
Denoise: Enable Chroma Denoise (~level 3) upfront. Use FFT Denoise (PRE for Layer 1) to clean noise before sharpening.
Sharpening: Adjust Layer 1 rightward until faint pixelation appears, then click Estimate Filter (nudge or raise SharpenFilter value as needed).
Color Balance & Saturation: Open Histogram - enable Auto-recalc, ROI, and Auto-threshold. Increase saturation to ~0.590–0.600 before saving.
4. WinJUPOS (Measurement & De-rotation)
Target: Celestial Body - Saturn.
Image Measurement (F7):
Align wireframe to the Cassini Division and outer A-ring edge using PgUp/PgDn and Arrow keys.
Adjust rotation/tilt using N and P only (never L/R).
Set Limb Darkening (LD) to 0.7–0.8 for a natural 3D globe effect.
Save measurement file (F2).
Batch Processing: Use Create settings files (.ims) for an image stack for remaining frames.
De-rotation: Tools - De-rotation of images - Add all .ims files - Compile Image (F12).
