Our youngest foal, Pearlie, is unlike any foal we've ever raised.
Most of our foals sired by our stallion Bob are incredibly gentle and trusting. Some of them are so easygoing they’ll practically sit in our laps!
But Pearlie is different.
She was born afraid of us, and at a month and a half old, she still doesn't fully trust people. She is cautious, nervous, and always ready to move away when we get too close.
So we decided it was time to bring her into the barn for a week and spend some one-on-one time working with her.
JR starts working with Pearlie on the basics, including teaching her to lead and getting her more comfortable being handled. The goal isn't to rush her or force her to become trusting overnight. We're simply trying to give her some experience, build her confidence, and see how much progress we can make in a week.
Will Pearlie ever learn to trust us?
Was she simply born with a more fearful personality, or is there a way to break through and help her become a confident young horse?
This is the beginning of Pearlie's journey, and we're curious to see just how far we can get with her.
