Tom Jones - live hits & rock'n'roll medley, 1966

Tom Jones ends up hip-gyrating and knee-trembling in this show with his rock'n'roll band: 0:00 Untrue Unfaithful, 0:45 What's New, Pussycat?, 3:02 It's Not Unusual, 4:48 Long Tall Sally/I Gotta Woman. Broadcast in France on March 19 1966. The backing group is likely Welsh rockers The Squires: Mickey Gee - Guitar, Vernon Hopkins - Bass, Bill Parkinson - Guitar, Chris Slade - Drums, and who backed him on the 1965 EP 'On Stage'. Mickey Gee went on to play with many Welsh rock artists, joining Geraint Watkins & the Dominators, and most of that band became both the Dave Edmunds band and Shakin' Stevens band on their hits. Mickey and other Dominators were later the Willie & the Poor Boys band for Bill Wyman, alongside Charlie Watts, Ron Wood, Andy Fairweather Low, Jimmy Page and numerous other stars. Tom Jones returned to his rock roots in his later life, with a series of albums covering blues, gospel and rock songs, produced by Ethan Johns. 0:00 Untrue Unfaithful 0:45 What's New, Pussycat? 3:02 It's Not Unusual 4:48 Long Tall Sally/I Gotta Woman #tomjones #TheSquires #WelshRocknRoll @Gazely Gaze
