Build a Road Book for a Road You Have Not Driven | Speedometer 55 PRO

Plan the stage before anyone drives it. Speedometer 55 PRO builds a road book from a route you draw on the map: a note at every turn, a tulip diagram beside each one, an elevation profile taken from the terrain, and a PDF you can print or hand to a co-driver. A road book normally waits on a survey drive. That is fine when the road is an hour away and the weather holds. It is no use when you are planning next season's event at a desk, when the recce is a flight away, or when you simply want the book in your hands before you set off. Trace the road with a finger. The stroke is nowhere near accurate enough to be the route, and it does not need to be: the stroke chooses the road, and the road supplies the line. Every stretch decides for itself, too. Follow the road where there is tarmac, a straight line across open ground, or the finger's own path for a track no road network knows. When you already know where the stage begins and ends, type them. A coordinate is exact, so the handle holds its position and the road comes to it. The heights arrive on their own, from the terrain rather than from anybody's GPS trace, so the book prints its climb, its descent and its elevation profile before a wheel has turned. Then the route is read for what it does. Every turn it makes becomes a course note with its direction, its angle, the straight that follows it and a tulip drawn from the road itself. Your own notes sit among them at the exact distance the route reaches them, and a note can take a symbol from the road book lexicon as well, for the cattle grid, the gate, the water crossing. Give the book a logo, a name and a target average, and Share or backup prints the whole thing as a PDF: the route map, the road seen from the side, and the course notes running on for as many pages as it takes. Then drive it and find out. Put the route map on a gauge, start the session, and the book reads each note aloud before you reach it, with the distance still to run and the diagram beside the words.
