BAMBOO REGULATOS ON SAFARI

Bamboo Uganda organized a special Safari for Regulators to visit, to witness bamboo plantations, processing activities, products and construction applications, so that in turn they can discuss the required standards, certification, building-code, planting-guidance and market-enforcement priorities needed to turn the National Bamboo Strategy into coordinated action. The Safari is intended to shape practical steps that will drive bamboo forward. The visit provided better understanding of the bamboo sector and its different players; the realization of the potential impact, especially provision of jobs, income and restoration; provide the understanding of the business case for each part of the value chain; to learn how to de-risk these businesses through policy, funding and partnerships; and to have a clearer identification of the interests needed to unlock and scale the industry; and as well to have a better understanding of how to support and regulate the new industry towards investable businesses and maximum impact. The safari covered different bamboo locations that included, Bijimu Bamboo Nursery and maintenance, Amabanda Bamboo processing factory, NAFOLI bamboo research center, Bamboo Tena Bamboo furniture and Easy Housing homes with natural materials
