"BYE AND BYE": CLINT BAKER'S NEW ORLEANS JAZZ BAND (Redwood Coast Music Festival 10.3.25)

I don't know whether it's dopamine or serotonin or just joy, but this performance of the spiritual BYE AND BYE by Clint Baker's New Orleans Jazz Band makes all those levels rise (so says my primary care physician). Sit back, if you can, and let this infusion of happiness do its work. This was performed on October 3, 2025, at the Redwood Coast Music Festival, and the generous people on the bandstand are Clint Baker, leader, trumpet; Colin Hancock, alto saxophone; Ryan Calloway, clarinet; Riley Baker, trombone; Kris Tokarski, piano; Alexander Fernandez, double bass; Jessica King, banjo; Benny Amón, drums. I first heard BYE AND BYE as performed by Louis Armstrong, which is a fine beginning, but in this lovely gumbo you'll hear echoes of George Lewis and Charlie Holmes, Count Basie and Zutty Singleton, Jelly Roll Morton and James P. Johnson, and that's only the top layer of this Frolic. Recorded by Michael Steinman for JAZZ LIVES (http://www.jazzlives.wordpress.com)
