We took a trip to the Viva V Samana by Wyndham in the Dominican Republic for a week over the Christmas holidays. It is an adults-only resort located in Samana Province near the town of Las Terrenas. Unfortunately it rained for much of the first four days but the weather was much better for the last two. But even on the rainy days the water temperature was fine. We didn't do any excursions due to the weather.
A lot of the video highlights the beach, as it is always an important consideration for us. This one was excellent, sandy with no rocks and very shallow for quite a distance. Furthermore, an even shallower and calmer spot is a 10 minute walk from the resort. On one occasion after a long rain there was seaweed in the water and some debris as well, but otherwise it was clear all week.
Overall we enjoyed the resort, with the staff service, animation team and buffet as highlights. The room was standard but clean with no issues. The resort never felt crowded and this made it feel more spread out even though it was small. The a la cartes could be improved (though the service was great) but we had no major complaints. We would give it an 8/10
