Most groups that go missing leave something behind. These ten left almost nothing: empty ships still sailing, a lighthouse with the lamps ready for a night that never came, aircraft that dropped off the radio, and five friends who never made it home from a basketball game.
The ten cases, in order: the Kaz II, the catamaran found off Queensland with the engine running and a meal set out; the three Flannan Isles lighthouse keepers who vanished from a tiny Scottish island in 1900; Flying Tiger Line Flight 739, lost over the Pacific with 107 people aboard; the Mary Celeste, found sailing herself in 1872; the Carroll A. Deering, the schooner run aground at Cape Hatteras with no crew; the MV Joyita, the ship that would not sink while all 25 aboard were lost; the SS Marine Sulphur Queen and her 39 crew; the Lost Colony of Roanoke and the word CROATOAN; Flight 19, the five Navy bombers and the rescue plane that followed them; and the Yuba County Five, the friends whose car was found far up a mountain road.
This is a sourced true mystery documentary about ghost ships, missing aircraft and people who vanished together. Facts come from official inquiries, coroners' findings, government reports and the sources below. Theories are presented as theories and legends as legends.
