The third chick(Youngest) has entered its second day since hatching, but it remains unable to take in adequate nourishment.
We are now facing a severe crisis, making it difficult to maintain our initial optimistic outlook.
In addition to the significant size difference compared to its siblings, the chick is unsteady on its feet, frequently falling over and struggling to get back up.
It often remains asleep even when feeding begins. Even on the rare occasions it tries to participate, it tends to face the wrong direction, away from the parent.
Its overall vitality and ability to compete for food have markedly declined.
At this rate, the risk of starvation is extremely high, and the situation is critical.
I am closely monitoring the progress to see if the chick can somehow overcome this dire stage.

You are watching the pair of peregrine falcons breeding at the Museo de América, thanks to cameras installed by Directo Natura in collaboration with the Museum. During this breeding season, in the pair you are observing—formed by an adult female (unmarked) and a male with ring 133 (born in 2020)—a juvenile from this pair born in 2023, "208," is collaborating in the breeding. It has remained in the parents' territory since last year and stays nearby, even assisting in the incubation of the eggs. This is unusual behavior, as juveniles are typically expelled from the territory once their learning period with the parents is over.
The rings of the chicks are: 23L male, 23H, 23J, and 23V females.
In the Community of Madrid, there is a stable population of peregrine falcons that breed naturally in urban environments. The largest group is found in Madrid city, and there are pairs in nearby towns such as Alcorcón, Leganés, Alcalá de Henares, etc.
This webcam has the authorization of the Community of Madrid for its LIVE broadcast 🔴DIRECTO.
