This is the Sukhoi Su-30MKI — the pride of the Indian Air Force's No. 220 Squadron, the "Desert Tigers." The Su-30MKI was a highly advanced multirole fighter, derived from the legendary Su-27 Flanker. It was built under license by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in India, making it a true multinational hybrid — a Russian airframe combined with Indian, French, and Israeli avionics and systems. With thrust-vectoring engines, long-range strike capability, and exceptional maneuverability, it became the backbone of the Indian Air Force — and one of the most capable Flanker variants ever built. The jet I recreated is SB220, from No. 220 Squadron. It was photographed during a historic exercise — the very first joint fighter training between the Indian Air Force and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. For this build, I used Great Wall Hobby's 1:48 scale kit. It featured newly tooled parts specific to the Indian variant, and included the BrahMos cruise missile — one of the most powerful air-launched weapons in service today. It's widely regarded as one of the best Flanker kits available in any scale, and I think it made the perfect platform for bringing this iconic jet to life.
