CZARSZIJA. RZEMIEŚNICY KRATOVA

“Čaršija: The Artisans of Kratovo” is a short documentary about the disappearing world of traditional crafts in the Macedonian town of Kratovo. A walk through the historic Hajduk Bazaar becomes a story of a town once bustling with tailors, furriers, potters, hatmakers, saddlers, and goldsmiths. Today, the old workshops are vanishing, and the last remaining masters have no one to pass their knowledge on to. The memories of local residents and artisans create a moving portrait of a place losing an essential part of its identity. The film reminds us that whenever a workshop closes, not only a profession disappears, but also the memory, experience, and history of an entire community.
