Danse 14 - VVBald visits Tweaky during the court case

The Court Case: The courtroom was unusually quiet that Tuesday morning. Judge Tweaky sat behind the enormous wooden bench, tapping his gavel impatiently as the doors swung open. “Court is now in session,” he announced. “The case of Beardie versus Boaty.” Boaty shuffled nervously into the courtroom. He had been acting strangely for weeks. Nobody could quite explain it. One day he would disappear for hours, the next he would be found wandering around town muttering about “the great incident”. He had also developed an unusual habit of staring at walls for several minutes at a time before suddenly shouting, “THE TIME HAS COME!” Naturally, Beardie had become suspicious. “I am suing Boaty,” Beardie declared, stepping confidently before the judge, “because I believe his mysterious behaviour has caused considerable emotional distress, confusion, and, frankly, several sleepless nights.” Boaty frowned. “That's ridiculous.” “Is it?” Beardie replied. “Then explain the ducks.” The courtroom fell silent. “What ducks?” asked Boaty. “Exactly.” Before the argument could continue, the courtroom doors opened once again. VVBald entered. Everyone stared. Judge Tweaky immediately sat up straighter. “VVBald,” he said, trying to sound serious. “What are you doing here?” “I came to see you,” VVBald replied. A few people in the courtroom exchanged knowing glances. Judge Tweaky cleared his throat. “This is a court of law.” “I know,” said VVBald. “You're my lover. I thought you might need emotional support.” The judge's face turned bright red. Beardie looked between them. “Wait. You're lovers?” Judge Tweaky slammed his gavel. “ORDER!” Unfortunately, the gavel bounced off the desk and landed directly in Boaty's lap. Boaty stared at it. Then he began laughing. Not a normal laugh. A deep, unsettling laugh. “Finally,” he whispered. Beardie stepped backwards. “What do you mean, finally?” Boaty stood. “I've been waiting for this moment.” Judge Tweaky looked alarmed. “Boaty, sit down.” But Boaty continued. “The strange behaviour. The disappearing. The ducks. Everything you've seen has been part of a much larger plan.” VVBald leaned towards Judge Tweaky. “Is he always like this?” “No,” Tweaky whispered. “Usually he's worse.” Beardie pointed accusingly at Boaty. “So you admit you've been acting strangely?” Boaty smiled. “I admit nothing.” Suddenly, the courtroom lights flickered. Everyone looked upwards. A mysterious scratching sound came from beneath the floorboards. Scratch. Scratch. Scratch. Beardie swallowed nervously. “What is that?” Boaty slowly turned towards him. “You really don't want to know.” The floor erupted. Dozens of rubber ducks burst into the courtroom, bouncing across the floor in every direction. Chaos followed. Beardie screamed. VVBald laughed. Judge Tweaky abandoned all attempts at maintaining order and climbed onto his chair. Boaty simply stood in the middle of the madness, smiling. “Now,” he said, “the truth can finally begin.” Judge Tweaky raised his gavel. “Court adjourned!” And somewhere beneath the courthouse, another duck quacked. No one knew what it meant.
