It sits just 6 kilometers west of Rhodes and serves as an ideal low-key destination or day trip. Emporio (Nimborio): The colorful capital and only active port village, featuring restored 19th-century mansions, a vehicle-free waterfront, and the striking clock tower at the Town Hall. Beaches: Popular spots include Pondamos (a sandy beach a short walk from town), Ftenagia (a rocky cove with crystal clear water), and Kania. Chorio: The abandoned medieval old village located inland beneath a ruined castle of the Knights of St. John.
