☑️05 - Circuit Elements, Active and Passive Elements, Dependent and Independent Sources In this lesson, we shall study electric circuit elements, passive and active elements and dependent and independent sources. Circuit element: is the basic building block of a circuit Electric circuit: is the interconnection of circuit elements Types of circuit elements 1. Active elements: they generate electrical energy to a circuit. eg battery, transistor, generator etc 2. Passive elements: they rather receive energy which they either dissipate, absorb or store in electric or magnetic fields. eg resistors, capacitors, inductors etc Types of sources 1. Independent sources: provide a specific voltage or current to a circuit which is independent or does not depend on any other circuit element. 2. Dependent sources: the source quantity is controlled by another voltage or current.
