Biologists Just Found Out What Texas Ghost Wolves Actually Are

Officially extinct in the wild since 1980. And yet its DNA is walking along a beach road in Texas. A biologist sent a lab two dead animals from Galveston Island. One sample got lost, so the lab got a scalpel instead. What the DNA on that blade revealed changed what scientists thought they knew about the red wolf. Biologists tested the so-called ghost wolves of the Texas and Louisiana coast. What they found inside ordinary-looking coyotes is stranger, and more important, than the name. #ghostwolves #redwolf #texaswildlife
