#Hamsadhwani’s 5th #Baithak - #DhrupadRecital - organised on Sunday, 17th December 2017. #Vocal: Prassanna Vishwanathan #Pakhawaj: Pratap Awad Prasanna took up Brindavani Sarang, appropriate as it was noon. This rendition was very emotive. The Shuddha Ma anchored the raga exploration beautifully, between the characteristic Shuddha Rishabh of the Sarang Ang ragas, and the avarohi Shuddha Nishad, which is the distinguishing feature of Brindavani Sarang. There were delectable meends that gently carried the listener downwards from the Komal Nishad to the Rishabh. As in Todi, a totally different facet of the raga was revealed in the jod and jhala, the raga dancing in ecstasy in the silence of the noon hour, when the surroundings were calm and eagerly anticipating every phrase. Prasanna went on to render a traditional Sool Taal composition of Miyan Tansen, Tum Rab Tum Saheb. Connoisseurs of music would have heard the same composition as a khayal.
