MUGETSU - The Last Sohei of Todai-ji [BLESSED BLADE]
His name is Mugetsu. It means "No Moon."
No family. No lord. No grave waiting for him.
He was once a Samurai. After his master fell at Dan-no-ura, he became a Ronin. With no war left to fight, he wandered to Nara and knelt before the Great Buddha of Todai-ji. He shaved his head, took the vows, and became a Sohei — a warrior monk.
For 20 years, he guarded the temple in silence.
Then in 1281, the Mongols came.
Kublai Khan's 140,000 warriors broke through Japan's coast. Samurai armies fell. The Imperial Court fled. The Khan's final order was simple: Burn Todai-ji, melt the 50-foot Golden Buddha, and break Japan's soul.
Everyone left. Mugetsu stayed.
For 49 nights he prayed inside the Daibutsu-den. 2On the last night, the Golden Buddha opened its eyes. A river of flame poured from Buddha's palm into his katana. The steel did not burn. It was blessed.
Now he stands at the temple gate, his straw hat hiding his face, his black and white robe of the Benkei lineage flowing behind him.
At the bottom of the stairs, a Mongol Khan and his horde.
One Sohei. One temple. One blade blessed by Buddha himself.
He is not fighting for a lord. He is fighting for dharma.
He is MUGETSU.
lA Cinematic Trap / Japanese Phonk anthem for the guardian who never existed, but should have.
