Struggling with DILR set selection in CAT? You can solve 2,000 sets and still freeze in the exam if you pick the wrong one first.
I went from 9 percentile to 98.8 in DILR, and the thing that changed wasn't practice volume — it was selection. In my first two CAT attempts I picked the 2 hardest sets on the paper because they felt familiar. In my third attempt one thing changed: I decided which set to attempt before I decided how to solve it.
In this video I give you the exact framework from my CAT mentorship live class:
Why comfort with a topic is not the same as clarity on a set
How to use the answer options in MCQs before you start solving
How to estimate workload once you've seen the basic structure
How to read a scary graph and restate it in your own words
How to find a clear entry point before you commit a single minute
How to make the final call: Start, Backup or Park
We use the same 4-participants / 10-puzzles graph from start to finish, so you can watch clarity arrive before comfort does, and workload matter more than word count.
One thing to try in your next mock: don't just record which set you chose. Write down WHY you chose it. That one line is the whole skill.

01:16 - My mistake: picking the 2 hardest sets in attempts 1 and 2
01:29 - Comfort vs clarity: loving a topic is not solving the set

08:24 - Rough-sheet tip: keep conditions separate
08:59 - The final call: Start vs Backup vs Park
09:53 - No scoring out of 10, the sunk-cost trap, and the 30-minute practice rule
10:37 - How to practise: a passive mock for selection only
11:11 - Back to the opening graph: Start, Backup or Park?
