Daniel wrote The Last Goodbye about leaving his old self behind. An abusive childhood and struggles with addiction shaped the person he became—but that version of him eventually had to go. This is not a song about forgetting the past. It is about accepting what made you, letting go of the person you needed to be to survive, and choosing to move forward.
