Lise Meitner was an Austrian-Swedish physicist whose research transformed our understanding of the atomic nucleus. Working with Otto Hahn, she helped discover nuclear fission by explaining that a heavy atomic nucleus can split into smaller nuclei, releasing a tremendous amount of energy. Together with her nephew Otto Frisch, she provided the first correct theoretical interpretation of this process and introduced the term "nuclear fission." Forced to flee Nazi Germany because of her Jewish heritage, she continued her scientific work in exile and refused to participate in the development of nuclear weapons. Today, Lise Meitner is recognized as one of the pioneers of nuclear physics, whose discoveries shaped both modern science and the peaceful applications of nuclear energy.

[Verse 1]
Room full of chalk dust
They said “war is coming”
The peace is full of rust
at the graphs she's staring
Saw emission of marble
Built a giant collider
This double particle
Is something greater than her
[Chorus]
Lise’s quiet fire
Saw a hidden break inside the atom’s wire
Split the world in half with a pencil line
Named in a footnote
Stealing her light
But the chain began in her mind
Lise’s quiet fire
[Verse 2]
Unwanted, made voiceless
Deep and wide
Exiled and breathless
But the math stayed bright inside
She whispered codes unspoken
Explanation was in the air
“Nucleus is broken
Energy is everywhere”
[Chorus]
Lise’s quiet fire
Saw a hidden break inside the atom’s wire
Split the world in half with a pencil line
Named in a footnote
Stealing her light
But the chain began in her mind
Lise’s quiet fire
[Bridge]
How many prisms
Did she pass through unseen
How many histories
Left her in the margins clean
But there in the fracture
She uncovered the answer
Where the heavy cores divide
The world could not hide
Whatever the number of tomb
I will not be associated with a bomb
[Chorus]
Lise’s quiet fire
Saw a hidden break inside the atom’s wire
Split the world in half with a pencil line
You can dim her name
Still it burns bright
Every bursting star in the sky
Carries Lise Meitner’s quiet fire
