just finished the brilliant Our Wives Under The Sea, Julia Armfield's (debut!!!) novel. i loved it so much i wanted to yap about it.
themes: grieving somebody who is still alive, grieving somebody who passed way, being unable to ask for help or be the help other people need, dealing with uncertainty and paradox, reminisce on what a relationship used to be to connect to it even though it's not actually over, lesbian love, building a home with someone who disappears then comes back as a stranger, so on and so forth.
this book is definitely gonna stay with me for a while.
have you read it? what did you think and feel?
talk soon,
x mathilde
