Soil Pit Workshop 2024

Dr. Shawn Salley, Soil Scientist, USDA NRCS, lead soil pit workshop to describe Soil Classification (U.S. Soil Taxonomy to the subgroup level), diagnostic horizons, and soil features. In addition to understanding soil-geomorphic relations, soil classification was an important objective of the Desert Project, including the refinement of definitions for diagnostic horizons and soil taxonomic names.
