Palestinians are displaying olives at a limited number of stalls scattered west of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, after the city’s olive market was reduced to rubble. The harvest season has seen a sharp decline due to the severe damage inflicted on agricultural land and olive trees during the war. A joint assessment by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the UN Satellite Centre revealed that approximately 90 percent of olive groves in the Gaza Strip had been damaged, while only 3 percent of agricultural land remained available and intact by June 2026.
