Lots of people want a backup internet connection. Maybe because some providers are cheap but unreliable, but more likely because of the real risk of physical damage, and the fact that maintaining two connections for very rare interruptions can make great business sense. But, we are stuck with complex multi-WAN routers, and configuring failover and load balancing by abusing Network Address Translation. Is there a better way?
Imagine a world where you can get a connection (+router) from two ISPs, plug them both in to your switch, and it all works magically. IPv6 should be able to do that, in theory, but there are just a few details missing.
