Free Vaccination Camp in Deurali Protects 51 Dogs

A free Dog vaccination camp was successfully held at the Deurali Meghmala Gram Sudhar Samiti Bhawan on Saturday, with 51 pet and community dogs receiving Megavac-6 and anti-rabies (ARV) vaccines. The camp was jointly organised by The Jumbo Troops, Kurseong K9, and Deurali Meghmala Gram Sudhar Samiti, Kurseong, as part of an initiative to reduce the risk of infectious diseases among domestic and community animals and promote wildlife protection. It was reportedly the second such free vaccination campaign held in the Darjeeling Hills. The organisers said the initiative aimed to protect animals from highly contagious and potentially fatal viral diseases while also reducing the risk of disease transmission within the community. They urged pet owners and animal lovers to ensure that their animals receive necessary vaccinations on time. Kurseong Veterinary Officer Dr. Suedenla Tshering Bhutia and Dr. Ananta Saha were present at the camp, along with representatives of The Jumbo Troops, Kurseong K9 and other volunteers. The organisers expressed their gratitude to Deurali Meghmala Gram Sudhar Samiti president B.B. Rai, secretary M.K. Khawas, treasurer Baliraj Rai and member Bali Pradhan for their support. They also thanked Dr. Bhaskar Ganguly, Amit Thapa and Indian Immunologicals Limited for their special assistance in making the programme successful.
