You cared for them through all of it, the pills, the appointments, the nights you slept with one ear open. And when it was finally over, before the sadness arrived, something else came first. Relief. You've never told anyone, because what kind of woman feels relief when someone she loved has died, and that question has been following you ever since.   This episode says out loud what almost no one will. The relief was never about losing them. It was about the end of their suffering and the end of your watch, and the people who sit with grieving families every day will tell you those feelings live side by side in nearly every woman who carried what you carried.   In this episode, you'll hear • What those months or years of caring took from you that nobody saw • Why relief arrived before the sadness did, and what the relief was actually about • The minute you keep replaying at night, and why it never shows the rest • Tammy's own story of her mother's last weeks, and the moment she would give anything to take back • Why so much of your grieving happened while they were still alive • The two true things you've never let yourself say in the same sentence   This is the third of five episodes on loss. Be gentle with yourself while you listen. If your grief or your guilt has been with you nearly every day for a year or more, or you feel you can't find your way back into your own life, a grief counselor can walk with you in a way a podcast can't, and many hospices offer bereavement support to families at no cost, whether or not they cared for the person you lost.   If this episode named something you've been carrying, I walk this work with women directly, at whatever pace it asks of you.
