Since the introduction of the Kawasaki R211A's to the B line due to the initiative to directly replace the Pullman R46's as well as displace and outright replace some Westinghouse R68's, the B line has been on a steady decline on actively using SMEE control equipment, which has generally consisted of Westinghouse R68's and Kawasaki R68A's that can be maintained at Concourse Yard as well as Coney Island Yard, in which the B trains pool is usually stored in both yards for storage & ease of putting any consist in service no matter what end of the line it comes from, as well as the D line also using R68's and therefore Concourse being able to maintain the B and D's equipment together. The B lines R68 and R68A pools have since dwindled being in favor of being used on the N, Q and W lines due to the fact they've been used to directly replace spots that retired R46's have been taken out of, and as more R46's retire and the fleet runs closer to a full, system-wide retirement, the R68's will eventually be funneled into the N, Q and W lines to be outright replaced alongside the R68A fleet to be replaced by the R268's later on, after the latter R211 cars are delivered to replace the worst performing R68's first. This also gives the B line the uniqueness of being a hybrid of older 1980's era subway cars and much newer 2020's modern era R211 new tech cars. Similarly, prior to all Pullman R46's being taken off from the revenue service roster on the A, C and Rockaway Shuttle, these lines had also shared the same type of mixed fleet type assignments, and even the G line once it had moved into Coney Island Yards operations from Jamaica, which introduced it to Coney Island Yards pool of R211A and R211T's first to outright replace the first R46's from there. Since the B has lowered its regular number of R68 and R68A's on the usual weekday (which also translates to the rarity of Baseball Specials utilizing the SMEE fleets as well), even the D line and Concourse Yard in general has introduced R211A's into their service pool, with the line now also running a mix of majority R68's but also a quickly growing number of brand new R211A's from the first Option Order, and later on to include Option Order 2 for both Concourse Yard and Coney Island Yard for the remainder of Concourse Yards R68 pool to be moved out to Coney Island Yard & Coney Island's final replacements for the R46's and some R68's before the R268's first deliveries commence in 2028/2029. #mtasubway 0:00 - On Board R68A B Train 5018 (59th St - DeKalb Av) 10:16 - R68A B Train Departure/Arrival 11:24 - On Board R68A B Train Arriving Newkirk Plaza 12:19 - R68/A B Train Action 16:11 - On Board R68 B Train 2836 (Sheepshead Bay - Brighton Bch) 18:22 - R68/A B Train Action at Brighton Beach Video Clips Taken: June 11th, 2026.
