Welcome back to FixIt All Workshop! In this video, I’m repairing a Nintendo Switch Joy-Con with a broken analog stick that is no longer responsive.
While this repair doesn’t require soldering, it does involve careful handling of multiple tiny flex cables and delicate internal components. I walk you through opening the Joy-Con, removing the old stick, installing a new one, and reassembling everything step-by-step.
It took a bit of effort, especially working around the tight space and ribbon cables, but the replacement was successful and the Joy-Con is fully functional again!
🧠 What I have in this video:
✔ How to open and disassemble a Nintendo Switch Joy-Con
✔ How to replace a worn-out joystick without soldering
✔ Tips for handling fragile ribbon cables safely
✔ Final assembly of the repaired controller
🔧 Why i do it:
Joy-Con drift or total stick failure is a common issue for Nintendo Switch , and buying new controllers is more expensive than changing a stick. This repair shows how you can fix it yourself, saving money and avoiding unnecessary e-waste.
🛠️ Tools & Materials Used:
🔧 Precision screwdriver set
🧰 Plastic spudger / pry tools
⚙ Replacement joystick (compatible with Switch Joy-Con)
🧼 Tweezers + patience for ribbon cables
