Assalamu Alaikum everyone ❤️ Welcome back to Life with Gul Chahat. This is one of the most painful videos I have ever made. My beloved Walida passed away on 14 August 2026, and I am still struggling to accept that she is no longer in this world. I could not see her face for the last time in her kafan, and that pain will remain in my heart forever. People often say that a stepmother is cruel, but my Walida was never like that. I feel ashamed even calling her my “stepmother,” because she was truly my mother. She raised us with love when we were very young. I was only four years old. My younger brother was three, another younger brother was just over one year old, and my elder brother was around six or seven. Because of the cruelty and ظلم of our father, our own mother was living at her father’s home. There were also difficult circumstances involving her stepbrothers and her own brother, and because of the ظلم she experienced, she also left this world carrying many unfulfilled dreams in her heart. Our father was very cruel to us when we were children. I remember one terrible incident when he hit my mother on the head with heavy pieces of wood. Her head was badly injured, and I could see her brain. I ran outside screaming for people to come and help because I was terrified that my father would kill her. There were nights when we were so afraid that we would sleep outside. But my Walida would not sleep until she found us and brought us home. She would come looking for us, take us home, close the door, make sure we were safe and asleep, and only then would she sleep herself. That is why I cannot call her simply my stepmother. She was my mother. ❤️ I also lost my brother in an accident in Saudi Arabia, and I could not see his face for the last time in his kafan either. Losing loved ones from far away, while being a traveller in another country, is a pain that is difficult to explain. I am a transgender woman, and throughout my life I have experienced rejection and a lack of love from my family and society. I have faced hatred, violence and discrimination, and I left Pakistan because I did not feel safe there. Living in the UK has given me safety, but I still struggle with loneliness, and losing my mother suddenly has made this grief even harder. At this difficult time, I was extremely alone. But two friends here, Zubair Awan, whose TikTok account is Kamiyabi Raaz, and Shah Rukh Khan, showed me what true friendship means. These friends are not only with me when I dance, sing or celebrate. When they learned about my mother’s death and saw the videos I shared on TikTok, they immediately came to me. They understood my pain and took me to their city, asking me to stay with them for a day or two so that I would not have to remain alone in my grief. I am truly grateful to both of them. ❤️ The purpose of this video is also to share an important message: Not every stepmother is cruel. Please do not judge every stepmother by the actions of a few people. Some stepmothers become mothers through their love, sacrifice and care. My Walida was one of those mothers. May Allah forgive my Walida, grant her the highest place in Jannah, forgive her shortcomings, reward her for raising us, and give her peace after all the pain she experienced in this world. May Allah also forgive my brother and grant him Jannatul Firdous. Please remember my Walida, my brother and my family in your duas. 🤲❤️ Thank you for watching and for standing beside me during one of the hardest moments of my life.
