#humanity #neanderthals #prehistoric What did prehistoric humans do when cold rain lasted for days? For Neanderthals living in Ice Age Europe, prolonged rain could affect almost everything at once — shelter, fire, food, hunting, clothing, warmth, and even sleep. Archaeological evidence gives us clues about how prehistoric humans may have adapted when the landscape became wet, muddy, and difficult to survive in. In this video, we explore how Neanderthals used caves and rock shelters, protected and maintained fire, searched for usable fuel, managed food, worked on tools, dried animal hides, conserved energy, and relied on cooperation during prolonged bad weather. We cannot reconstruct one exact rainy week from 50,000 years ago, but archaeology helps reveal something more important: prehistoric humans survived by adapting their behavior, using knowledge, and working together. Some scenes in this video are evidence-based reconstructions showing plausible ways Neanderthals may have responded to prolonged wet weather based on archaeological evidence and research into Neanderthal behavior, diet, technology, and environment.
