Welcome to "Himachal’s Greatest Gathering: International Kullu Dussehra" — a cinematic documentary journey into one of the most unique, high-energy, and spiritually intense cultural festivals on earth. --------------------------------------------------- THE LEGACY OF 1651 & THE AYODHYA CONNECTION: In the year 1651, suffering under a fatal curse, King Jagat Singh of Kullu abdicated his kingdom and dedicated his entire throne to Lord Raghunath Ji (whose sacred idol was brought through an arduous journey from Ayodhya). Since that historic moment, no human ruler has ever governed this valley. Lord Raghunath Ji became the eternal King of Kullu, and a royal tradition was born that has remained unbroken for over three centuries. --------------------------------------------------- THE DESCENT OF THE DEV TAS: Every year on Vijay Dashami, a divine summons echoes across the Himalayas. Over 400 village deities (Devtas) descend from remote, snow-capped mountain valleys in handcrafted, ornate silver and brass palanquins (Palkis). Accompanied by thousands of villagers dancing in rhythm to the raw, thunderous beats of Pahadi Dhol-Nagara, Shehnai, and long brass Karnals, these deities travel on foot across rugged mountain passes to assemble at Dhalpur Maidan in Kullu to pay homage to their Supreme Ruler. --------------------------------------------------- THE SACRED RITUALS & THE GRAND RATH YATRA: Experience the rare and sacred traditions that define this week-long festival: • The pivotal signal of Mata Hadimba from Manali, whose presence authorizes the procession. • The electric moment thousands of devotees grab the massive braided ropes of Lord Raghunath Ji’s colossal wooden chariot (Rath) to pull it across the grounds. • The 7-Day Shivir (Dev Darbar): A living encampment where over 400 deities stay under colorful tents, blessing devotees and dancing together in open air day and night. • The grand climax of Lanka Dahan on the banks of the sacred Beas River, marking the ultimate victory of good over evil. --------------------------------------------------- ABOUT THIS DOCUMENTARY: This film is a tribute to the living traditions, indigenous music, and unyielding faith of the people of Himachal Pradesh.
