First time in recent memory where I spec into the Trident, and I'm a little unsure how to feel about this weapon. It's intended purpose is clearly to provide extremely high burst damage (similar to Fourth Horseman from D2), with the trade-off being that it's not very ammo efficient... in a game where ammo efficiency should be your top priority. I have two complaints with the charge mechanic: first, it forces you to slow down in order to charge up a volley, and this slow down lasts long enough that you're going to eat a few hits from nearby melee enemies (or even the enemy that you're charging up to shoot at); and second, the weapon firing upon trigger RELEASE makes this weapon feel a little awkward to tap fire when dealing with smaller enemies. It does feel around the same power as a Warthog in this regard, but the slight throw-off from the charge mechanic plus the projectile travel time puts it a little lower in my opinion. However, this weapon absolutely annihilates dominators, which are an enemy I've been struggling to deal with. The two armor piercing/armor breaking upgrades I got for it made them an absolute cake walk to deal with, since it shreds their face-plate and deals well over half their health. Same goes for the other members of the beefy boys, namely clamorheads and edgestalkers, though it did fall a little flat against the gatekeeper. I think precision weapons/builds are still much better for bossfights. Random stuff: 1. The dominators' lingering AoE attack does surprisingly little damage. It's mainly the impact damage that you have to watch out for. 2. Got very lucky with a turret building on that stage 2 swarm. Likely would have struggled quite a bit without it. 3. 44:09 Clearing out the drifters here was super satisfying. 4. I'm wondering if I should have gone with the ice damage upgrade for the Trident instead of radiation, and I'm wondering if it can freeze the gatekeeper off of a fully charged blast with said ice damage. 5. Aftermath is very, very strong already, but I do wish that stronger aftermath areas weren't immediately overwritten by weaker ones from things like Explosive Shots and Guardian's stun blast. Oh well! Thanks for watching!
