Copper Mine Railroading in Arizona in 2026! Today, we’re exploring the Copper Basin Railway, located in Hayden, Arizona. With around 60 miles of trackage, the CBRY primarily services the Ray Mine and Hayden Smelter. This area of Arizona is rich in copper, with the Ray Mine being one of the largest copper reserves in the country. Over the years, rail traffic has slowly dwindled along the Copper Basin due to a variety of reasons. While traffic levels aren’t the same, it’s still a very unique and cool operation to visit.
