Is This Austria’s Best Hike? 🇦🇹 | Seebensee, Tyrol

Join us on a cinematic hike to Seebensee, Austria — one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in Tirol. Starting at the Ehrwalder Almbahn valley station in Ehrwald, we climb towards the Ehrwalder Alm before continuing through the Austrian Alps to Seebenalm. From there, it’s one final push to the turquoise waters of Seebensee, surrounded by the dramatic mountains of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. This was easily our favourite hike in Austria. The first climb was tough, but the mountain views, peaceful trails and arrival at Seebensee made every step worth it. 🥾 OUR ROUTE Ehrwalder Almbahn → Ehrwalder Alm → Seebenalm → Seebensee 📍 LOCATION Seebensee, Ehrwald Tirol, Austria Altitude: approximately 1,657 metres You can shorten the hike by taking the Ehrwalder Almbahn cable car to the Ehrwalder Alm. We decided to walk up from the valley and earn the view. One useful tip: bring some cash if you want food or a cold Weissbier at one of the alpine huts.
