Tank Duel is a four-against-four tank battle for the original Macintosh 512K from 1984, written in 68000 assembler. I didn't write a single line of it: Claude Code (Opus 5.5) did, on a Raspberry Pi 5, from three prompts and in about three hours of working time. What you see in the video: the first prompt (that is the whole game design) and a small CLAUDE.md that points Claude to our tools Claude planning eight milestones and testing every step itself in the Mini vMac emulator: scripted mouse and keys, screenshots it looks at, frame-rate measurements at real 512K speed, and even recording the emulator's sound to check the waveform the Raspberry Pi crashing in the middle of the polish, and "claude --continue" picking it up again the finished game: scrolling map with a river, lakes, forests and destructible walls, tanks in 32 directions, cannon, machine gun, homing rockets and mines, computer tanks that flank, take cover and drive home to repair, sampled sound, radar and status bar The gameplay clips are driven by a test script and by the game's own autopilot (a test mode Claude built for itself), recorded in the emulator at real 512K speed with the game's own sound. In numbers: 6,210 lines of 68000 assembler in 11 modules, 14.7 KB of machine code, 160 KB of graphics and sound made by its own Python tools, 3 prompts, about 3 hours. 🔗 Links mac68k-asm (68000 assembler, linker, resource compiler; MIT): https://github.com/bircher988/mac68k-asm mac68k-disk (MFS/HFS floppy images; MIT): https://github.com/bircher988/mac68k-...
