THE SOUND A dry listener beneath a cedar shelter hears broad, soft rainfall over fern fronds and forest soil, with a restrained grain of patter on damp wood and very distant rounded thunder. No roof-metal resonance, voices or music. THE SCENE Gentle rain descends through the cedar forest beyond the covered walkway. Small expanding rings meet the wet stone path and fern fronds move subtly; the shelter, trunks and lantern stay fixed. The welcome words fade away after seven seconds. The environment remains visible throughout all ten hours. PRODUCTION NOTES Python, NumPy and SciPy synthesize fresh stereo rainfall throughout the full ten hours. Separate layers shape the broad rain bed, surface impacts, outside detail and distant thunder. This scene uses a 165–6860 Hz main rain band with a 2420 Hz low-pass tilt; its surface detail has an average 78 independently placed impacts per second and a 31 ms envelope. Slowly varying weather levels avoid abrupt changes. The 101 thunder events have individually shaped envelopes and low-frequency profiles, spaced roughly 4–8 minutes apart. One calibrated gain is applied across the soundtrack, with no repeated complete audio loop. No downloaded rain recordings, finished songs or vocal samples were used. OpenCV provides the scene-specific masking and local animation, and FFmpeg assembles the final film. The two-minute visual cycle repeats smoothly. This is an imagined cinemagraph with software-created sound, rather than a field recording of an actual location.
