In this video, I break down the real science behind salt-hydrate thermal storage — materials that can absorb heat when it is available and release part of that energy later as they change state. The idea is not free heat. The salt does not create energy, and one bucket cannot replace an entire winter’s worth of firewood. Instead, the same material can be charged and discharged repeatedly throughout the heating season, helping shift useful heat from the moment the cabin has too much to the moment it needs more.
