This Kucle plant has been acclimating for over two weeks and is ready for repotting. Although repotting citrus plants in summer carries risks, the root system had already fully colonized the original root ball; keeping it in the small pot would have stunted its growth in the coming year. Furthermore, the original soil retained too much moisture, which could pose a problem during Germany's rainy autumn and winter seasons. When repotting citrus plants, ensuring good drainage is crucial—especially in regions like Germany with frequent overcast and rainy weather—so it is important to incorporate materials that promote drainage and aeration. For the potting mix, I included highly permeable perlite (approx. 10%), breathable pine bark (approx. 15%), and specialized azalea soil (approx. 20%) to adjust the acidity; these proportions serve only as a guideline. After potting the citrus plant, it is essential to ensure that the initial watering drains away properly; if the water fails to drain or takes an unusually long time to do so, the potting mix must be adjusted and repotted.
