Dodona is an ancient site located 22 km south of Ioannina, between the mounts Tomaros and Manoliassa. It boasts various attractions, with the Theatre from the 3rd century B.C. being the most impressive. The Theatre was built during the reign of Pyrrhus and had a capacity of approximately 18,000 spectators, making it one of the largest and most well-preserved ancient Greek theatres. The Temple of Zeus and The Sacred House are the two most significant monuments on the site. The original text should have mentioned the area's location and the temple's purpose. The rewritten text explains that the area was in the sanctuary of Delphi, and the temple was dedicated to Apollo. The Theatre in Greece is one of the largest, with a seating capacity of 18,000 people. It consists of a cave, an orchestra, a Doric stoa, and a wooden proscenium. In 219 B.C., the Aetolians destroyed the structure. Later, at the end of the 3rd century B.C., it was restored. Unfortunately, Aemilius Paulus destroyed it again in 167 B.C. In the 1st century B.C., the structure was transformed into an arena for a new purpose. The Bouleuterion is an essential building that deserves attention. It consists of a large hall and a Doric stoa at the front. It was constructed at the end of the 4th or beginning of the 3rd century B.C. and rebuilt twice. After being defeated by the Aetolians in 219 BC, it was rebuilt and used until the end of the 1st century B.C. It was later destroyed by the Romans in 167 B.C. and rebuilt by Augustus. Other interesting sites are the earlier and later temples of Dione, Themis, Herakles, Aphrodite, and the early Christian basilica. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music: Beautiful Dawn by AshamaluevMusic   / beautiful-dawn      / @ashamaluevmusic   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you like what you see, subscribe and click the bell to enable notifications for more travel videos.    / verynicetravel   I really appreciate your support! ❤️❤️❤️ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright © Very Nice Travel.
