Red Bull’s Douglas DC‑6B Flying Bulls Aerobatic Team Aurora Airport Sugar Grove, IL OE‑LDM "Oshkosh"

Red Bull’s Flying Bulls aerobatic team currently operates one active Douglas DC‑6B in its fleet. This aircraft, registered as OE‑LDM, is a 1958 Douglas DC‑6B originally ordered by Yugoslavian Premier Josip Broz Tito for personal and state use. It later served Zambia’s President Kenneth Kaunda before being abandoned at Lusaka Airport. It was acquired by the Flying Bulls in 2000, restored to full airworthiness, and now flies as part of their aerobatic show team. While the DC‑6B is the centerpiece of the Flying Bulls’ collection, the team’s full fleet also includes other vintage aircraft such as the North American B‑25J Mitchell and the Lockheed P‑38 Lightning. The Flying Bulls (Red Bull, Austria) – Operates one DC‑6B (OE‑LDM) for aerobatic and promotional flights. The Douglas DC-6 is a piston-powered airliner and cargo aircraft built by the Douglas Aircraft Company from 1946 to 1958. Originally intended as a military transport near the end of World War II, Douglas reworked it after the war to compete with the Lockheed Constellation in the long-range commercial transport market. Douglas built over 700, and many still fly in cargo, military, and wildfire control roles. The DC-6 was known as the C-118 Liftmaster in United States Air Force service and as the R6D in United States Navy service before 1962, after which all U.S. Navy variants were also designated as the C-118.
