The investigation into him began in August 2023, when authorities received a cyber tip about several concerning files that had been uploaded online. Investigators traced the internet activity and eventually connected it to the substitute teacher. For more than a year, the investigation continued. Then, in November 2024, authorities received another report involving similar concerning online activity. Detectives traced that activity back to the same internet connection. Just one month later, in December, another cyber tip was reported, giving investigators even more information to work with. By January 2025, detectives had gathered enough evidence to obtain a search warrant for the substitute teacher's home. A SWAT team arrived at the residence several days later, where investigators confronted him about the online activity. According to the affidavit, the substitute teacher initially claimed that he may have accidentally clicked on certain websites and denied intentionally saving anything. However, investigators said he later acknowledged being curious about the material while continuing to deny intentionally searching for it. He also reportedly told detectives that he viewed some of the material because he wanted to see if he recognized anyone or determine whether they were from his community. He explained that because he worked as a teacher, he believed it was important to remain aware of potential dangers involving young people. Investigators seized his laptop and conducted a forensic examination. Authorities said they ultimately discovered 10 concerning files involving minors on the computer. On January 29, the substitute teacher was arrested and charged with 10 counts related to the material investigators said they discovered. His bond was set at $100,000. Following the arrest, the Palm Beach County School District immediately terminated his employment. The district emphasized that the charges were not connected to anything that allegedly happened inside its schools. Families at schools where he had worked during the previous 12 months were also notified. What began with a single cyber tip in 2023 eventually turned into an investigation lasting more than a year. After additional online activity was detected, authorities obtained a search warrant, seized the teacher's computer and ultimately arrested a man who had spent nearly 30 years working around students.
