THE TRIFFIDS Ft Melanie Oxley I WANT TO CONQUER YOU

My thanks to the inimitable Graham Lee a one time member of the seminal Aussie band The Triffids for uploading and participating in this exquisite performance, chosen by me as I am, as my regular visitors know, a HUGE Melanie Oxley fan. I have intentionally not littered this with images, as I really wanted the music and the vocal to be appreciated without distraction. This is a live performance from 2008 and a tribute to the late great David McComb - a former member of The Triffids and the co-writer of this beautiful song which appeared on his solo 1994 album 'Love Of Will'. David passed away in 1999 at the tragic young age of 36. Melanie's vocal is just wondrous and her control and power; given it is live and a tribute to a much loved colleague, still haunts me, more than a decade since I heard this for the first time. The image at the end of the clip is a more recent picture of Melanie with her long time collaborator Chris Abrahams. More to come of them, from me.
