The Chinese-owned Teng Hui (Myanmar) garment factory located in Htantabin Township has announced its permanent closure on October 1, 2026, leaving over 3,000 employees out of work. The factory, which manufactures knitwear for the international brand H&M, cited severe difficulties in importing raw materials from China and a lack of new orders. Compensation based on employee tenure is scheduled to be paid starting September 25.
