Europeans grow up seeing American houses in movies and TV — huge kitchens, wide suburban streets, giant refrigerators, garages, walk-in closets and enormous bedrooms.
But what happens when they actually step inside an American home?
In this video, Europeans experience American houses and suburbs for themselves. What starts with “this looks exactly like the movies” quickly turns into culture shock as they discover massive refrigerators, central air conditioning, garbage disposals, garages, laundry rooms, en-suite bathrooms, walk-in closets and spaces they never expected to find in an ordinary home.
For some, even a walk-in closet feels like an entire bedroom back home.
Then they see what some of these houses cost.
From British reactions to American suburbs and Texas homes to German reactions to everyday features inside American houses, these are real European perspectives on how differently homes can look and function across the Atlantic.
