Starting Our ICCF Walls | Fire‑Rated Build for Our Mountain Home 🏔️🏡 In this video we start stacking our ICCF blocks (Insulated Composite Concrete Forms) from ‪@earthfriendlybuildingmater5518‬ on top of our foundation footers. We chose ICCF because our building consultant likes using it, and the fire rating was really important to us since we’re building in the mountains and have family members who’ve lost homes to wildfire. We began by snapping chalk lines to mark where each wall needed to go. The footers turned out well, but they weren’t perfectly level or perfectly square, so we had to make a few adjustments to make sure our walls would be exactly right. Once the lines were down, we started stacking blocks, and by the end of the video you’ll see our whole first course set — which is already taller than I am in some spots. This video also includes our ICCF block delivery, which had a couple bumps in the road. The delivery truck broke down on the way in, and Parker ended up towing it out with the excavator. And of course, we also built all the rebar cages for our load‑bearing columns and got to use Parker’s favorite tool again: the rebar‑tying gun. With the first course stacked and the cages built, we’re ready to set up bracing and then… pour more concrete.
