1946 RCA Victor B-418 Farm Radio Preliminary Test Fire

Just acquired this old farm radio recently, this is the start of my repair adventure. 90v is being supplied by a 10 cell cluster of 9v batteries, and 1.5v filament voltage supplied with my vintage HP 721a power supply. The radio was only run for this short time and will not be powered on again until recapped. Here I tuning into shortwave and picking a Spanish station coming out of South America, as well as Radio Romania International, using only a short wire antenna. Decent reception for being in New Brunswick, outperforming my Tecsun PL330. This little radio is pretty sensitive! The chassis is in good condition and is currently untouched, with the only repair so far being the dial cord, and lube of all moving parts. Even the cloth wiring harness is in good shape. The cabinet is also complete and in great shape (dial and glass included), but has been repainted at some point in its life. I will leave it as is. Planned repairs will be a complete recap, and a modern wiring harness to be installed in parallel with the old one so I can use modern connectors for the 90v and 1.5v battery box I plan to rig up for it.
