Stroma - Island in the stream

The now abandoned island of Stroma sits in the Pentland Firth, between mainland Scotland and Orkney. Once home to 375 people, the last islanders left in 1962. The population fell in early C20th. Island life was not easy: storms & wild seas batter the land. Wildflowers are today abundant, with a thriving bird population.
