His Dad Found This ’49 Chevy in a Barn After 30 Years… for $500

Mike Anglin’s 1949 Chevrolet is more than a show car. It’s the continuation of a dream his father started decades ago. Mike’s dad found the Chevy sitting in an Indiana barn, where it had been parked for nearly 30 years. After just a few hours of work, some fresh fluids and gas, they got it running. He paid just $500 for the car and drove it from central Indiana all the way to the south side of Chicago. Mike inherited the Chevy from his father in 2009 and set out to build the street rod his dad always wanted. Today, “The Mistress” wears a Candy Apple Red and white paint job, packs a 383 stroker making around 425 horsepower, and has earned more than 150 awards, including nine Best in Show wins. But the trophies aren't what make this car special. Mike dedicated the Chevy to veterans, with custom artwork honoring those who served and the words: “All Gave Some — Some Gave All.” And every time Mike takes the Chevy to a show, there’s still one person riding with him, his dad.
